Since WWS has gone the way of Wowjutsu, future reports will be done through World of Logs. The link below goes directly to our uploaded guild reports, sorted by day. Anytime I remember to turn it on, the combat log of a given raid will be automatically uploaded to this page:

Serenity Knights DKP System

Purpose:

To prioritize players for the distribution of epic items in a way that will best benefit progression of our raid group as a whole and to reward raid members for their efforts and expenditures in the raid group.

Earning Points:

Members earn DKP points by first being approved for raiding by their Class Commander or a designated Officer of the guild, then signing up for Guild 25-Man Raids in the current Tier of progression content.

1 DKP point is awarded for attending or being on reserve for each Raid.

Example: HairyDroodDude and UberPreest are both qualified to raid per their Class Leader. Both sign up to attend a 25-Man Raid on Ulduar. HairyDroodDude is seated for the Raid, while UberPreest is placed on reserve. They each earn 1 DKP, which is credited towards their Tier 7 DKP total.

Player vs. Character:

Each CHARACTER has its own DKP total. If we ask someone to come on an alt to help the raid, that person can use their Main Character's DKP balance if they wish, but they still have looting priority of an alt - they still go after the Mains.

Special Point Awards:

1 Bonus point is awarded to those present for a first kill of a boss.

The Raid Leader can elect to award 1 bonus point to everyone who signs up for a particular raid, as an incentive to encourage players when we are “stuck” working on a new boss for a while. This will be announced in advance to encourage signups.

How Drops Are Distributed:

The Main present in the raid with the highest DKP total has first looting rights on any epic item that drops. Looting rights pass to other Mains in descending order of their DKP totals. If no Main with at least 1 DKP point wants the item, Alts have looting rights based on the same methodology.

Ties are settled with /roll.

If you take any item your DKP total resets to 0.

If nobody wants to spend DKP for an item (for any reason) all present (Mains and Alts) may free roll for it together.

If a BoE epic item drops that nobody in the raid chooses to spend DKP on, it will be banked and available to all members of the guild. These will be distributed periodically, usually on Raid nights, immediately before or after a scheduled raid. To qualify, the requestor must be 80, Knight rank or higher and able to equip the item immediately. Mains have priority over alts

Patterns and Crafting Items:

Epic patterns that drop will be distributed via free roll to Mains then Alts, with the requirement that the character must have sufficient skill level to learn the pattern immediately.

Winning a pattern does not consume your DKP balance.

Effective tonight (4/6/11) Maelstrom Crystals will be made available to members of Knight rank or higher, at the cost of 2 DKP per enchant.

Just to be clear, the guild bank will issue qualified members whatever number of maelstrom crystals are needed to get a top enchant at the cost of 2 DKP. Some enchants require 4 crystals, others 5, but either way the cost will be 2 DKP total.

Caveats:
1) Please request crystals to enchant only items iLevel 359 or higher
2) Member requesting crystals must have all other mats and have the enchant done at the time the crystals are issued (no getting crystals to have the enchant done later)
3) If multiple people request crystals, they will be issued to the member with the highest DKP total first

Sample Loot Distribution Scenario:

The Raid Kills Anub’Rekhan in Naxxramas, and the “Collar of Dissolution” drops.

Collar of Dissolution
Binds when picked up
Neck
+36 Agility
+29 Stamina
Requires Level 80
Equip: Improves hit rating by 24 (0.73% @ L80).
Equip: Increases your expertise rating by 38 (4.64 @ L80).
Equip: Increases attack power by 100.

The following players who could use the item are present:

FuriousWarrior(m) 11pts, NubeRouge(m) 7pts, LongShotz(m) 7 pts  HairyDroodDude(m) 5 pts, RetNub(m) 0pt, YetAnotherDK(a) 15pts.

YetAnotherDK has the highest DKP total (15 points), but he is an alt, so all of the others go before him.

FuriousWarrior, the main with the highest DKP balance, can take the item if he/she wants.

NubeRouge and LongShotz are both mains, and are next at 7DKP each. If they are both interested in the item, they will roll off.

HairyDroodDude will only have an option for the item if those ahead of him pass.

If all of the Mains pass, YetAnotherDK can lay claim to the necklace.

RetNub has no shot at the item, unless all Mains and Alts pass. If that happens, he will get to roll along with other interested players. Note that he cannot automatically win the item, as he has no DKP (either just won something, or this is his first raid).

DKP Q&A.

Q. Why have a DKP system at all? We are all members of the same guild, couldn’t we just /roll or even use Need/Greed when something nice drops?

A. We raid together to have fun, first and foremost. But seeing the same raid instances over and over would not be fun, so we must distribute useful items so that they will be present to help the raid when it moves to the next tier of content. Also, people don’t find it fun to go on 10 raids in a row, only to lose a roll for a very helpful item to someone who just attended their first Guild Raid. So attendance and availability (reserve) should be rewarded with looting priority.

Q. Why do you lose ALL of your DKP points when you get an item, even if it isn’t a major upgrade?

A. The purpose of the DKP system is to determine what order people receive loot in, not to establish the relative value of different items. If someone has attended many raids without winning an item they will get to loot a useful drop ahead of others who have gotten items recently. This is fair. But if taking an item only cost them a portion of their points, the opportunity would exist to hoard DKP and take several items in one run, effectively shutting everyone else out. Having a high DKP total puts you at the front of the line to get your item, but does not enable you to dominate loot distribution beyond that one item.

Q. Why track separate DKP totals for different Characters owned by the same player? They are all owned by the same person!

A. At first glance, tracking separate totals for Mains and Alts looks like a blow to players who have helped us out by bringing their Alts to raids. But if you think about it, establishing separate totals means that if they DO have a chance to get an item, the Alt character has its own DKP to spend. Think about that – if you are in the raid on an Alt (because you were asked) would you want to wipe out all of your DKP to get an item for the Alt? Also, we value the raid contributions of our players equally, but if we want to see all of the content, it makes sense to give looting priority to the Mains. They are going to be in the raid usually, Alts are only there in emergencies. Having an awesome item rotting on an alt does not help the raid progress to new content.

Q. Why don’t epic patterns cost DKP any more in the new system?

A. Most of the Epic craftable items in WOTLK are BOE, so ownership of the pattern is not required in order to obtain a crafted item that you want. Getting the pattern does not equate to getting an epic, so it is not rational to expend DKP for it. That leaves the consideration of players wanting the patterns to make money selling the crafted items, but the first priority of our DKP system is to help us see more content. Helping members make gold selling BOE crafted epics is of much lower priority.
